A WEEK IN MY GARDEN - 5 SEPTEMBER - THE ROSES
I haven't done much gardening this week. It's been a bit rainy, as you can see on the petals of Rosa 'Munstead Wood'. The soil is still dry though. We could do quite a lot more, but not all at once, please and thankyou.
The other reason for not getting much gardening done, is that I have an exhibition coming up in six weeks and I wanted to finish a few more paintings. All the work for this exhibition is based on the garden. This is a detail from one which is inspired by the Long Border.

In between the showers I have got a bit done outside. The sun was out today as I caught up with the dead heading in the Rose Garden.
The climbing rose, 'Blush Noisette' is looking lovely too and is an absolute mass of blooms. It's nearly swallowed the obelisk though.

When did you last see your obelisk? |
I've been admiring the cyclamen in other people's gardens and went to find ours hidden among the fallen leaves. They are so tiny, perhaps due to the dry weather.
I mentioned two weeks ago that I had bought a few salvias. I admired this one at Chelsea Flower Show the year before. It's called Delice Aquamarine, and is a really unusual and striking shade of blue.
Mr B's pick of the week is this trough of white Busy Lizzies which he noticed today. They are outside the back door. They are looking rather spectacular
That's all for another week as we drift into Autumn. Thank you for reading and happy gardening.
How beautiful and delicate these droplets ( dew) are on the first rose you showed us: (Munstead Wood)! Superb photo
