A WEEK IN MY GARDEN 2 MAY - RHODODENDRONS AND CHERRY TREES
The beginning of May, and what a week of glorious weather we have had. The Summer dresses have been worn, the BBQ was lit and the Rhododendrons bloomed. The scent of Rhododendron luteum draws you in from afar to admire its sunny yellow flowers.

Across the path is a bright pink Rhododendron and to complete the colourful scene there are bluebells. It's not a colour combination I would have chosen personally, but hey ho, I suppose it has a certain vintage charm.

The Long Border is filling out, but due to the wet and the slugs last year there were a few plant losses.
I planted a few additional Delphinium 'Summer Skies' and some yellow Achilleas since all the achilleas in the garden were lost. Well not actually lost of course - they died.

Also flowering this week are the cherry trees in the Woodland Garden looking beautiful in their powder pink fleeting glory.
It was also a week of firsts - the first iris bloomed, as did the first peony and the first rose. We'll save most of those for next week though. Until then, thank you for reading and I hope your gardens are looking blooming lovely too.
